About Me

Welcome! My name is Kathi. I'm a daughter of the King and a follower of Jesus Christ, a wife, an over-50 mother of four, mother-in-law to three young men, grandma to three girls and a little boy, a National Guard mom, a 4-H leader.

How did Oak Hill begin? In 2004 we moved lock-stock-and-barrel from Michigan to Oklahoma - hubby and me, our two youngest children who were then in their young teens, our three dogs and three cats, three goats, and assorted chickens and rabbits. At a gas station somewhere in Missouri, someone asked if we were a traveling petting zoo.

Living at Oak Hill has fulfilled a dream I've carried inside me for so many years while I followed my Navy-then-pastor husband from one end of the world to another: to put down roots in the country and stay put! I hope you'll join me as I strive to live a simple, self-sufficient, God-centered life.

A few things about me:

I've always loved horses. This photo was taken by my dad on my eighth birthday, when my grandparents gave me Fancy. From that point on, I couldn't wait for summer so I could stay with them and ride every day. Nowadays I can't wait for summer so our nine-year-old granddaughter can come stay with us and ride every day.

My camera is my almost-constant companion. I use a Nikon D60 DSLR. My favorite lens is a 70-200mm Nikkor zoom lens.

I'm a published magazine writer, including Country Almanac, Country Kitchens and Baths, and Iams Your Cat.
